"Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you." – DEU 31.6 MSG
Jesus wants to be part of every minute of your life. Even the insignificant ones. Even the ugly ones. How many times have we heard, ” He will never leave you nor forsake you…”? Do we really believe that? Do we really believe that Jesus wants to be in the middle of our most indecent moments?
Dig this: Jesus had a woman brought to him who was caught during her life’s lowest point. They found her and took her to Jesus while she was literally in the middle of… Yeah.
How many of us have assumed (or wanted to assume) that she had time to touch up her makeup and cover her sin between the sex and the being dragged by an angry mob to the Son of God? Yeah, right. She was immodest, humiliated and broken. But this is where the magic happens. Jesus shows grace when, really, He was the only one qualified to put her in her place.
See, grace finds us in the most indecent places — our most immodest moments — and instead of giving us what we deserve, grace gives us what we could never dream of qualifying for: a clean slate.
Paul said, “where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” In the Message he calls it, “aggressive forgiveness”. Jesus is so passionate about showing us boundless, aggressive forgiveness even when we deserve it the least… That’s grace. No matter how indecent your situation might be, God’s grace for you is right there in the middle of it.
