Have you ever tried on a pair of glasses that contain a prescription not meant for you? Or maybe you need glasses. Either way, you can’t see properly. Your vision is unclear, blurry, and quite frankly, messed up.
“But God told Samuel, ‘Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. God judge persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.’” - 1 Samuel 16:7 MSG
As an artist, I look at situations differently. I add up all of the little details to devise the ultimate picture. God is the superior designer and creator (or artist, if you please). You see, God takes in not only what we can see from an outside perspective, but also the thoughts and intentions of our hearts.
Judging each other is not our job, yet constantly we do this: we look at other people (our friends, neighbors, family, even strangers); we look at them and judge them by their actions, clothes, jobs, cars, and attitudes without knowing the situation. It is human nature to judge ourselves by our intentions/situations and to judge those around us by their actions/appearances.
I recently watched the movie “Son of God”. This movie displayed the compassionate, bellicose love Jesus displays. Even though He sacrificed Himself in 33 A.D. the result of His love still reigns. He sent the Holy Spirit to guide and comfort us. The Holy Spirit shows us how to see through God’s eyes; to be patient and love others, not judge them. So let’s synchronize with the Holy Spirit and use Him as He was meant to be: our God-like glasses.
May your vision be clear and beautiful, as God intended.
